Hiking trails
If you love hiking, we have plenty of beautiful and scenic trails to offer.
At Hafsten, we have five marked hiking trails with different difficulty levels and viewpoints, as well as a mountain bike trail. A map is available at reception. Two of the trails lead to some of Bohuslän’s finest viewpoints, with stunning views over the archipelago.
Hafsten is often known for its nature reserve, but also for its beautiful forests. On this lovely trail, you hike through beautiful pine and birch woodland. The route is 4.2 km long and partly follows a country road. The trail is easy and recommended for all ages.
Utsikten is a great hike for anyone who loves taking truly beautiful panoramic photos, with the archipelago as a stunning backdrop. This is also where the FlyingFox ride begins. So if you want to get a sense of what awaits you when you take the FlyingFox, we recommend hiking up here first.
Don’t miss this trail if you love romantic, scenic views. The view stretches across the entire nature reserve, the archipelago, and Havstensfjorden as far as the eye can see. We have two hiking trails that lead to Hafstenstoppen. The blue trail is challenging and includes some climbing. For a moderately difficult experience, choose the light blue trail.
This is a cosy, easy trail that the whole family can enjoy at a relaxed pace. At the end of the trail, you will find the naturally formed giant’s kettle, a full 8 metres in diameter. Bring a picnic, a blanket, and enjoy the wonderful sea air at this secluded beach, and let everyday worries melt away.
Strandpromenaden is a very beautiful and easy trail for cosy walks at sunrise, sunset, or a lovely outing with the children during the morning or afternoon. Really, any time at all. Parts of the trail are covered with wood chips and it leads through a lovely oak grove and a sheep pasture, perfect for a short break where the children can pet the sheep and the adults can relax and enjoy a coffee break.
If you enjoy a mental challenge, Tipspromenaden is a must. Here you will find ten children’s questions and ten adult questions in our lovely pine and birch forest. Tipspromenaden starts by Mini-Spat, and answer sheets and the correct answers are available at reception.
If you enjoy a long walk, Milen is for you. This trail partly passes through wide pastures, beautiful forest, cosy residential areas, and quiet country roads. Don’t forget your picnic, there are many lovely detours that are perfect for calm, sunny, family-friendly coffee breaks together.
From Strandpromenaden, Milen, Skogslingan, and Utsikten, you can reach Genvägen, a quick shortcut to the high ropes course and the newly built café. Here you can sit down for a while and enjoy a cup of coffee, tea, ice cream, snacks, and light refreshments in the beautiful, tall pine forest.
Near Hafsten, just outside Uddevalla, you will also find Herrestadsfjället, an excellent destination for hiking. The area offers at times dramatic scenery, with a large number of lakes, steep slopes, and rocky heathland. You can read more and see a map of the hiking trails at Herrestadsfjället here .
If you enjoy more challenging hiking trails, we recommend Bohusleden, one of the finest hiking trails not only in Bohuslän but in all of Sweden. From Hafsten, it is only 20 km to stage 13, Glimmingen - Bjursjön. You can read more about this here .
From Uddevalla, you can also follow Kuststigen, an exciting experience for hiking enthusiasts. It consists of 25 stages and starts in central Uddevalla, via Ljunskile, Stenungsund, Orust, and Lysekil, continuing to the southern areas and Sotenäs Municipality. You can read more about Kuststigen here .
