Sustainability

Sustainability

Here at Hafsten, we are well aware of how important it is to take care of nature. That is why, for many years, we have been working towards a stronger environmental mindset and a more sustainable way of managing waste, electricity consumption, and cooking.

Solar panels
We use solar energy as much as possible and aim to become self-sufficient when it comes to electricity consumption.

Electric vehicles
On the resort, we have four charging stations for electric cars. Our maintenance team and housekeeping use electric cars, electric lawn mowers, and trimmers.

Charging stations
In the upper part of the camping area, we have installed charging stations for electric vehicles.

LED lighting
Across the resort, we use LED lighting wherever possible.

Local staff
Many of our team members live locally and therefore have a short commute to work. When we hire summer staff, we prioritise people who live in the surrounding area.

Local tradespeople
For new construction projects, we use local tradespeople whenever possible.

Single-use items for Take Away
In our restaurant, we only use single-use paper items when guests pick up their food for Take Away.

Reduced food waste
In the restaurant, we have clear routines in place to reduce food waste.

Local food suppliers
In the restaurant, we use local suppliers whenever possible, such as fish from Lysekils fiskauktion and meat from Gröna Gårdar.

Environmentally friendly cleaning products
Our housekeeping uses eco-labelled cleaning products, and we are gradually working to replace all our cleaning products with eco-labelled alternatives.

Water consumption
We measure and document our water consumption every month.

Bed linen and towels
As part of our sustainability work, our routine is not to change bed linen and towels during guests' stay unless they specifically request it.

4-stroke motorboats
Our motorboats that we rent out to guests are equipped with 4-stroke engines and therefore produce fewer exhaust emissions.

Keeping the nature reserve clean
We regularly pick up litter around the resort and in the nature reserve to keep it clean.

Water-saving shower heads
In all our service buildings, we use water-saving shower heads to reduce water consumption.

Water-saving toilets
We use water-saving toilets across our resort.

Recycling of plastic, batteries, and cooking oil
In the reception, the restaurant, and around the resort, we have placed bins with signage for soft plastic, hard plastic, paper, newspapers, and more. Our maintenance team has dedicated containers for car tyres, discarded car batteries, hazardous waste, light bulbs, batteries, electronics, and cables. In the restaurant, we collect all cooking oil in a tank and send it to Svensk fettåtervinning.

Collaboration
We are happy to collaborate with other facilities within the camping industry, where we develop our businesses together, share ideas, and meet our guests' wishes and needs.
